Why do vermin fear the ELD-VT bullet? Partly because it’s accurate enough to double as a match bullet. It features Hornady’s own Heat Shield, which is made of heat-resistant polymer. It doesn’t get squishy and deform when it’s heated by air friction. Hornady’s Advanced Manufacturing Process yields a virtually perfectly concentric jacket. Their ELD-VT also sports a boat tail, and aerodynamically efficient profile to boot. This round’s 0.448 G1/0.266 G7 BC is outstanding in light of its bullet’s light weight!
You really do want a light bullet when you’re gunning for small game, though. The ELD-VT cuts a flat path toward its target, which it decimates through the power of fragmenting expansion. Once the Heat Shield crosses the large air gap separating it from the ELD-VT’s dense lead core – ker-plooey – a varmint in many pieces. There’s also a lower risk of an exit wound, which is great if you’re collecting pelts!
