This cartridge’s 160 grain full metal jacket bullet is very light for the 45 Auto. That’s not due to its jacket, which is a normal copper shell. It’s because of its core, which is made of zinc (7.14 g/cm3 density) instead of lead (11.34 g/cm3 density). The zinc-core bullet won’t just give you a fast muzzle velocity, either (1,100 fps out of a 4” barrel, which is still subsonic). It will also avoid producing any lead gas as it’s cooked by hot propellant gasses inside the barrel.
Winchester really went above and beyond to create a healthier training experience. In addition to its lead-free bullets, this ammo is loaded with lead-free, antimony-free and barium-free Boxer primers. Its brass cases are reloadable, too!
