This cartridge spouts a 158 grain lead semi-wadcutter hollow point. The bullet’s angular shoulder and broad meplat will both inflict a great deal of damage to soft tissue, and its nose cavity enables it to widen out following close-range impact. The SWC profile also makes it a perfect option for target shooting, as it cuts a well-defined hole through a paper target.

The semi-wadcutter is an especially popular bullet for self-defense with a snub nose revolver. A shorter barrel may not be capable of giving any hollow point sufficient velocity for it to undergo terminal expansion, but the SWC reliably delivers a wider wound channel than any non-expanding round nose profile bullet.
