If you’re out of 308 hunting ammo, then that’s no problem. Aguila has stepped up to provide the affordable solution! The well-established Mexican manufacturer has loaded this cartridge with a 150 grain bullet, as well as the propellant it needs to clear the barrel at a velocity of 2,810 fps. We’re not saying the round’s ballistic performance is identical to that of a 7.62×51 M80. But it is reasonably close, which means you’ll quickly get the hang of it if you’re already familiar with the NATO load.
No FMJ here. The soft point is the preferred bullet for low-tech medium game hunting, and is designed to deliver a wound channel that is at once deep and wide enough to anchor anything with antlers. A 150 grain bullet is usually considered too light for North America’s biggest deer species, but how you use this ammo is ultimately up to one guy: you (aka “Numero Uno”).
