This cartridge is loaded out with the 223’s quintessential 55 grain FMJ projectile. The bullet itself is nonmagnetic and possesses a cannelure to prevent it from shifting out of its seating. A bullet like this cannot expand inside of soft tissue, thus suiting it better for target practice than home defense, although it’s without question capable of quickly neutralizing a threat. The FMJ’s aerodynamic profile gives it a ballistic coefficient of 0.274. In simpler terms, it only needs to rise by about 2” in order to bullseye a 200-yard target (not taking sight height into account).
See these rounds’ discolored shell casings? That’s proof that the brass was heat treated during production, which made it better able to expand to seal the chamber during ignition as well as endure multiple handloading projects. This non-corrosive Boxer-primed ammo is a great pick for reloading!
